Biography

Dr. Mark H. Dawson is the senior partner in Acadiana Family Medical Associates and who with the late Dr. Thomas Curtis was a founding member of the Acadia Family Practice Group. Dr. Dawson has over 30 years experience in family practice and pediatrics in Acadia Parish. He maintains active hospital privileges at many hospital throughout Louisiana including Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Lafayette and Acadia General Hospital in Crowley.

 

Dr. Dawson received his Doctor of Medicine from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in 1976. He completed his Family Practice residency at Walter Olin Moss Regional Hospital in Lake Charles in 1980 and was a Chief Resident of Family Medicine at the hospital from January through December of 1979. He completed his Pediatrics residency at Earl K. Long Hospital in Baton Rouge from 1988-1990.

 

Dr. Dawson is board certified by both the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Board of Family Medicine. He made the list of Best Doctors in Louisiana for the last 5 years as selected by Louisiana Life magazine. He was appointed by former Governor Kathleen Blanco to the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners and was reappointed by Governor Bobby Jindal in 2009. He is also coroner of Acadia Parish having been re-elected to the position six times.

 

Dr. Dawson is married to the former Linda Hornsby of New Roads and they are the parents of four daughters: Dr. Marin Dawson-Caswell, her husband Kyle and their children Kaylin, Liam and Adalyn; Kasey Dawson Holtzman, her husband Bill and their children Will and Reid; Erin Dawson Alexander and her husband Paul and Kellen Dawson.
